A Full Line of High Quality Carton Sealing Tapes

How to choose the best tape for your application.

Choosing the best pressure sensitive tape for your application can be confusing. However, it's not difficult if you understand a few basics.

Choose the right film backing for the job.
Polypropylene is the most commonly used backing today. It is less expensive that aither PVC or Polyester, and it is very strong, especially when manufactured using the "blown" extrusion process. Backings manufactured with a "cast" process tend to be weaker, and to stretch easily.
Bemis manufactures its own high tensile, biaxially oriented polypropylene backing using the "blown" extrusion process, so you can be sure it will deliver all the strength and consistency you need. Bemis makes a great polyester tape as well.

Choose a synthetic rubber adhesive.
Synthetic rubber adhesives give you up to 20 times the holding power of natural rubber or acrylic adhesives. Synthetic adhesives also can be blended to just the right formula.

Adhesives can be blended "soft" so they feel sticky and have good "quick-tack", or "hard" so they don't feel so sticky, but have a greater long-term holding power. Most tapes are blended soft. They feel sticky to the touch and they don't have good long term holding power.

BemisTapes® are blended to deliver the best of both worlds: excellent quick-tack and exceptional long term holding power. BemisTapes® are consistent, too, because Bemis compounds and blends its own synthetic rubber based adhesives.

All Bemis carton sealing tapes use the exclusive CORR-U-GRIP® synthetic rubber adhesive which means every box you seal is held with thousands of power grippers. The peaks and valleys of this adhesive "flow" into your carton for extra holding power even in dusty and cold environments.

Choose an "easy" release coat for machine rolls.
If tape did not have a release coat, it would stick to itself and never come off the roll. Manufacturers can reformulate the release coat so that the tape "releases" easily or with great difficulty. Remember, how a tape releases from its own roll has virtually nothing to do with the adhesive. It is determined by how the release coat is formulated.

Bemis manufactures its tape with different release coats for different applications. Machine rolls have an "easy" release so the tape will unwind easily and not stretch in the taping machines. Hand rolls have a tighter unwind.

Choose a colored film, not colored adhesive.
Most manufacturers put the coloring into the adhesive, which can weaken the adhesive. Bemis colors the film, not the adhesive, so our colored tapes are just as strong as our clear tapes.
